   When I talk to people about Michelle Obama, which I do often, they inevitably respond positively. She's gorgeous, strong, brilliant, accomplished, an inspiration, they say. They talk about how her life story exemplifies the American dream. A girl from a working class, African American neigh- borhood graduates from Princeton University and Harvard Law School, lands a big-shot law firm job and then decides to work for nonprofit and educational institutions. She marries a rising political star and gives birth to two beautiful little girls. When she becomes First Lady of the United States of America and dances with President Barack Obama in an elegant gown, the princess storyline seems complete.
